Matthew N.O. Sadiku is professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Prairie View A&M University. He is the author of over 100 professional papers and fifteen books including Fundamentals of Electric Circuits, Metropolitan Area Networks, Numerical Techniques in electromagnetics, and Introduction to Broadband Communication Systems. His current research interests are numerical techniques in electromagnetics and computer communication networks. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

An Excellent EM reference book

I was looking for a very good EM reference book. I found this, and it's amazing. Mathematically rigorous, easy to understand, and very well written, this book covers EM from a to z, including transmission lines and antennas. The examples are great, too, because you can work them without the the author giving too much away in the answers but just enough. This is an excellent book for reference, since the chapters nearly stand alone. So, one can read one chapter about electrostatics or skip ahead to another about Faraday's law without getting lost in a tome-like textbook where the author tries too hard to blend together the chapters for fluidity and cohesion, like a novel when it's supposed to be a textbook. This book doesn't do that, and I love it for that. However, the organization of the material is very well thought-out and makes good sense. Get this book if you're struggling in an EM class or you want an excellent reference book to page through. I highly recommend it.

Great Book for Understanding EM

I have the second edition of Elements of Electromagnetics. This is the book I go to if I really want to understand an EM topic. I find that for understanding the derivations of the laws and formulas this book is the best that I have opened. I am reading Feynman's lectures on EM and often go to this book when I can't follow Feynman. I haven't found many errors in the text itself, but reading others comments it seems the answers to the problems are not always correct. Still, for a good understanding it would be hard to top Sadiku.

Don't buy the 3rd Edition

This book (3rd edition) is from hell. The TA who solved/wrote the problems in this book was clearly on crack. Not even the solutions manual can be trusted to have the right answer. This is one of the few books I've found where you would be better off without solutions, since so many of those given are completely and utterly wrong.
It is interesting to note that you sometimes have to look at the solutions manual to understand what the hell the problem is actually supposed to say.
This book teaches electromagnetics and baldness. The latter comes from tearing out ones hair looking for the problem in ones work that doesn't actually exist, but does exist in the solutions you are comparing your work to.
Two stars because the book functions nicely as a club and projectile.
