The Regency Era is a fascinating time period and represents a most advantageous setting for my novels. While I've always been intrigued by times gone by, I've never seen myself as a history buff. I am in awe of writers who know theses eras by heart, providing all these little details that make up the world we live in. Therefore, I do not claim my novels to be historically correct. My characters generally live in a slight variation of our reality, which, to be honest, gives me free rein when it comes to the trials I put them through (which is the very reason I started writing to begin with).
I generally focus on the human experience and am curious to see how people behave in certain situations. At this point I want to apologize to my characters for using them as lab rats in my experiments!
The key element of life is love, is it not? But what if society dictates different rules? What if love is not a primary concern? A primary goal? How do you deal with a life that is not yours to choose? Today, we are all so used to choosing our own paths that we cannot imagine what it would be like to find ourselves in a position where choices are made for us. It's just an awful thought! And when it comes to matters of the heart, it's even worse! Can you imagine marrying someone you don't know? Someone you may not even like? Someone you might even hate on sight? And yet, you have no choice. The date is set. You have to say 'I do', no matter how you feel. How do you deal with that? How does your heart deal with that? How do you get through the day?
These questions are what motivated me to write the Love's Second Chance Series. Of course, in romance writing you need a happy ending. Who would want to read a book about misery and heartache if it does not ultimately lead to something worth living for? Aren't we all idealists when it comes to love? Do we not all dream of the perfect match?
Nonetheless, in the beginning of my novels these couples find themselves wed not to their ideal match but to a stranger instead, and for reasons that never include love. Each of them facing different trials. Each of them with a unique mix of character traits and emotional back stories. They all have to find their way, and I enjoy nothing more than to accompany them on their journey.

a game that threatens to ruin any chance for happiness for either one of them

To begin with you learn that Edmond Dunsworth the Duke of Cromwell has lost his family fortune. His steward has heard of a man with two daughters that have a sizable dowry. After a very unusual meeting he decides to offer for Anna. He sees something in Anna that makes him want unravel her mysterious behavior.
The marriage becomes a very rocky ground when Anna's friend reminds her that men are devious. So Anna makes a plan to make the Duke sorry he chose her. It is a battle, a game that threatens to ruin any chance for happiness for either one of them. There are so many little sub plots that keep this story rolling at a quick pace.
Graham and Rosabel are in this book and that made me very happy to see how they are doing after a period of time. They are such wonderful characters from Forgotten and Remembered, the first book of the series.
If you have not read this series, you should. It is wonderfully written and full of strong independent characters. I can not wait for book three.

Second Book in the series Good as the first

Edmond Dunsworth has just learned he has lost all his money from his steward. He suggests that Edmond marry at once and suggests someone. Anna Hanford's sister Judith is the one he wants to marry not even meeting her yet. Anna finds out Judith is in love with another and tricks Edmond into marrying her instead, She is very willful but pretends to be quiet like her sister till they marry. Edmond has to put up a lot with Anna .she spurns him at every chance mad because she gave up her life to marry him. She also has a friend who hates men and eggs her on even when Anna begins to have some feelings for him. He does not always help the problem he runs several times to his friends.from the first book . They try to help and send him home again. . The book has a lot of surprises which I can't give away. You will not be disappointed in this book the author really knows how to write a story. I had had to keep reading both books straight through to see how they would come up finally together at the end. I think Anna's friend Henrietta will show up in another book or at least I hope so. She has to really have to have a reason to act as she did. I am waiting the Novella and next book to come out.

Better than the first (and the first was very good)!

Since other reviewers have given the plot I'll just get right to the point and say I loved this book better than the first one! While the h is a little stubborn at first she has her reasons and warms up to the H after a little bit. The H stays true to character from the first book (not necessary to read though to enjoy this one) and I love his personality. Carefree and a true gentleman. This is definitely a keeper and I have already added it to my reread folder. Bree's books are very well written with great detail and realistic characters. I'm looking forward to the third book!
