In fact Britain was the only land that Rome could not conquer. Nation after nation fell before Roman armies for hundreds of years but not the British Isles. One doesn't have to be British or of British ancestry to develop as you read a great sense of sympathy and affection for these early Christians who gave their lives in defense of home family and church so their descendants would have the freedoms they now enjoy. Mr.Jowett gives some interesting information about Joseph of Arimethea.

He tells who he was,beyond being Mary's uncle.

The "Bethany Group" was with Joseph of Arimethea when he went to Britain.

This book covers the Disciples as well as Mary,James the just,Paul,and Peter. Where they traveled and their martyrdom.

Aristobulus and after him,Paul traveled to Britain.

This is also a detailed history of Britain and the subject of the "Lost Sheep".

There is also a helpful index in the back of the book.

This is a good book on the subject of the Disciples and what became of them.

All of our lives, Christians have been taught in the simple ways of the people of Galilee and Nazareth. Not so. This area was the cross roads of trade between the Mediterranean and the eastern and western provinces of Rome. Joseph of Arimathea travelled extensively between his tin and lead holdings in Cornwall and other areas of the know Roman world on ships he owned or leased which were needed for his business. Joseph of Arimathea, member of the Sanhedrin and Roman citizen and member of the Jerusalem senate, who argued for the acquittal of Jesus only to be out maneuvered by Caiphas and Annias who charged Jesus with high treason before Pontius Pilate. Billed as the complete guide for international sales, finance, shipping and administration, this book has set itself an ambitious target to be a somewhat essential guide to a broad area. Yet in this case it is not undeserved hyperbole.

This is quite a slim volume, all things considered, yet surprisingly this revised (fourth) edition manages to pack a lot of actionable, useful and informative information within. This book has a great heritage, with it originally published over 40 years ago, and it has undergone extensive modification over the years. It is definitely a book focussed on doing instead of being a deeper, theoretical textbook and it arguably can serve a number of audiences well.

Don’t mix up brevity with a lack of information; the reader gets a short but sufficient overview (or reminder) about a particular point and they can then always search deeper, broader information If required, such as currency risks and how to seek to mitigate them. Chapters cover subjects such as trade risks and risk assessment, payment methods, risk management, credit insurance, finance and exporting. It is incredibly easy to navigate through the book and get the nugget of information you are looking for. If that’s not enough, there’s always the excellent index to consult. A sequential read is not necessarily a bad use of your time either.

Obviously this book cannot be an encyclopaedia, whereby you can search for country-specific information, so a certain level of generality is expected. That said, the less-experienced can soon get up-to-speed with relevant issues and then search out specific information from other sources. This book could also be ideal for students and those who have tangential need for such knowledge too. It is certainly not dumbed-down or over-simplified, yet the detail is patiently explained.

Jeremy R. Haft has been starting and building companies in China for two decades across the breadth of China's economy - from light and heavy industries to agriculture. A fast, engaging read for anyone interested in business with China

China continues to be a perennial political buzz topic, easily identified as our archetypical "other". Recriminations oscillate between their horrible human rights record, their contributions to global climate demise, and most readily, their eminence as the next global economic superpower. We need only look at the hand wringing that took place in early August 2015 when the Chinese once again decided to devalue their currency, followed a week later by mini-crashes of Asian and world markets.

Mr. Haft places us into a well shaped and entertaining treatise as to why all talk of China's imminent trouncing of us on the financial battlefield is poppycock. He first debunks common sound-bite-sized assertions based on GDP, manufacturing advantages, and currency manipulation. He then takes the reader on an engaging series of illustrations of how China is essentially decades behind the West and China’s own neighbors in the realms of law base, regulation, quality control and certification.

But he doesn't shy away from offering up the alarming results that have evolved from risks he describes as "endemic," placing proper focus on the horrors of the last decade where Chinese babies were made sick and even killed from tainted formula, and Americans died from bad blood thinner.

I must admit that his explanations of the lack of transparency in supply chains made me start to look twice at processed food and dog treat labels with more scrutiny than I ever have before, but I think that's part of his point. Whether we like it or not, our economy is inextricably intertwined with theirs. Haft's years of experience on the ground allows him to show us that the responsibilities of ensuring proper results from business with China lies mostly within our own governments, households and minds.

A fast, engaging read and a must for anyone interested in economic theory or business with China.

Yet again, Jeremy Haft puts forth a book that brings actual knowledge and intelligence to the U.S.-China dialogue. This book was released at the perfect time as pundits in the media are not quite sure how to discuss China's stock market collapsing as it doesn't fit neatly into the narrative that China is going to surpass the United States in every major economic indicator.

Through multiple well-grounded and well-researched arguments, Haft completely tears down the nonsense that we hear in the media regarding China as the world's economic superpower and China as the world's leading manufacturer. This book is refreshing and inspiring for all people who have been told the same story over and over again that China is overpowering the U.S. and that this will be the "China century." Further, this book not only removes these fallacies from the table, but it also provides numerous opportunities and reasons to believe in America as there are so many opportunities to turn China's issues into businesses and other positive outcomes. I would recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a different and, ultimately, positive and optimistic perspective on the U.S.-China relationship.

The real issue is SAFETY!

Based in the book’s title, I was expecting a book that would dispel the myth that China is the world’s greatest economic superpower and that the United States is forever doomed to playing second fiddle to China. The book did fulfill that expectation, but also delivered much more.

I, like many others, did not appreciate that China is really the world’s assembly line, and that products supposedly “made in China” were merely assembled there using parts produced in other countries. I further naively believed that China was able to effectively compete economically with other countries because of its abundant manual labor force and its willingness to tolerate extreme levels of industrial pollution that other counties would find appalling; and it was these two factors that allowed them to compete on price. But this, according to Haft, is only part of the story. The trade-off we make in buying low-priced Chinese goods is SAFETY. China’s dysfunctional regulatory system allows for gross lapses in safety standards that result in tainted products that threaten our lives, either by poisoning us or failing to work properly. This manifests itself in ways such as melamine contamination of foodstuffs, or bridge collapses due to defective bolts. The bottom line is: “Buyer beware!”

The book is very approachable to a lay audience, and converts complicated economic theories into easily intelligible common-sense arguments. In this election year, the presidential candidates (and the reporters that interview them) would do well to read this book. If we can all get past the fiction that China is stealing American jobs, maybe we can move on to discussions of the more substantive way that China threatens U.S. commercial markets -- through its dumping of low-priced defective products into the worldwide marketplace.

About the Author
"Dr. Warren J. Keegan." Dr. Keegan is Distinguished Professor of Marketing and International Business and Director of the Institute for Global Business Strategy at the Lubin School of Business, Pace University, New York City and Westchester. He is Visiting University Professor, Cranfield School of Management (UK), CEIBS (China European International Business School) Shanghai, the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania Executive Programs, and ESSEC, Cergy - Pontoise (France). He is the founder of Warren Keegan Associates, Inc., a consulting consortium of experts in global strategic management and marketing and Keegan & Company LLP, a firm specializing in litigation support. The firm is affiliated with MarkPlus, the leading marketing consulting firm of Indonesia.

Dr. Keegan is the author of many books. His text, "Global Marketing Management," Seventh Edition (2002, Prentice Hall, Inc.) is recognized as the leading Global Marketing text for M.B.A. courses around the world. His other books include "Offensive Marketing" (2004), "Global Marketing," Third Edition (2003, Prentice Hall), "Marketing Plans That Work," Second Edition (2002, Butterworth-Heinemann), "Marketing," Second Edition (1995, Prentice Hall), "Marketing Sans Frontieres" (1994, InterEditions), "Advertising Worldwide" (1991, Prentice Hall), and "Judgments, Choices and Decisions" (1984, Wiley). He has published in leading business journals including the "Harvard Business Review, Journal of Marketing, Journal of International Business Studies, Administrative Science Quarterly," and the "Columbia Journal of World Business."

He is a former MIT Fellow in Africa where he served as Assistant Secretary, Ministry ofDevelopment Planning and Secretary of the Economic Development Commission for the Government of Tanzania. He was a consultant with Boston Consulting Group and Arthur D. Little, and Chairman of Douglas A. Edwards, a New York corporate real estate firm.

Dr. Keegan holds an M.B.A. and doctorate from the Harvard Business School. He has been a visiting professor at New York University, INSEAD (France), IMD (Switzerland), The Stockholm School of Economics, Emmanuel College of Cambridge University, and at the University of Hawaii. He is a former faculty member of Columbia Business School, Baruch College, and The School of Government and Business Administration of The George Washington University.

He is a Lifetime Fellow of the Academy of International Business, Individual Eminent Person (IEP) Appointed by Asian Global Business Leaders Society (other awardees include: Noel Tichy, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, and Gary Wendt). His biography is listed in "Marquis Who's Who in America." He is a member of the International Advisory Board of Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), Montreal; the Editorial Advisory Board, Cranfield School of Management; and Financial Times Management Monograph Series and is a current or former director of The S.M. Stoller Company, Inc., The Cooper Companies, Inc. (NYSE), InterAd, Inc., American Thermal Corporation, Inc., Halfway Houses of Westchester, Inc., Wainwright House, and The Rye Arts Center.

"Dr. Mark C. Green." Dr. Green is Professor of Management and Marketing at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where he teaches courses in management, marketing, advertising, international marketing, innovation, and Russian language. He earned his B.A. degree inRussian literature from Lawrence University, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Russian linguists from Cornell University and an M.B.A. degree in marketing management from Syracuse University.

In addition to co-authoring "Global Marketing," Fourth Edition with Warren Keegan, Dr. Green has also contributed case studies and chapter materials to several other textbooks published by Prentice Hall. These include: "Advertising Principles and Practices," Fourth Edition, by William Wells, John Burnett, and Sandra Moriarty (1997); "Behavior in Organizations," Sixth Edition, by Jerald Greenberg and Robert Baron (1996); "Business," Fourth Edition, by Ricky Griffin and Ronald Ebert (1995); and "Principles of Marketing" by Warren Keegan, Sandra Moriarty, and Thomas Duncan (1992). Dr. Green has also written essays on technology and global business that have appeared in the "Des Moines Register" and other newspapers.

Dr. Green has traveled to the former Soviet Union on numerous occasions. In 1995 and 1996, he participated in a grant project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and presented marketing seminars to audiences in Nizhny Novgorod. In addition, Dr. Green has served as a consultant to several Iowa organizations that have business and cultural ties with Russia and other former Soviet republics. Dr. Green has lectured in Russia and Ukraine on topics relating to emerging market economies. His 1992 monograph, "Developing the Russian Market" in the 1990s, received an award from the Iowa-based International Network on Trade.

In 1997, Dr. Green was the recipient of Simpson College's Distinguished Research and Writing Award. Dr. Green also received the 1995Distinguished Teaching Award for senior faculty. In 1990, he was the recipient of Simpson's Excellence in Teaching Award for junior faculty. He also received the 1988 Outstanding Faculty of the Year awarded by the Alpha Sigma Lambda adult student honorary at Simpson College.

Haven't Seen a Better Book About Crowdfunding Out There, to Date

I have led two successful crowdfunding campaigns before I got behind-the-mind of Nathan Rose. Rose really nails down the topic of crowdfunding. This is a new movement for business in today's world and in many ways revolutionizing thought around traditional business. The author really digs into the possibilities that can take a business to another level. I really appreciate how he has done the research to cover all areas of crowdfunding.

What is also incredible about crowdfunding today, is it lets investors become a part of the project/business in ways that weren't possible in the past. Investors can see the project grow with ease and investors can feel like they are apart of something unique. Rose really understands this. He understands the importance of this movement and where it is heading. He understands that with the internet and globalization this is a huge change for business and he has become the go-to-expert for equity crowdfunding in today's world.

I also enjoyed how Rose used specific examples of crowdfunding campaigns. This helps readers to actually see how people are using this as a viable method for attracting investors today.

The only book you need when raising capital

If you're looking to raise capital, then this book is a one stop shop on how to do it. Nathan Rose knows what he is talking about. He elucidates a pathway through the minefield that is raising capital, while keeping the reader engaged. It's a book with global reach, giving examples from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and little New Zealand. As a Co-Founder of a start-up that has raised successful capital from angles, VCs, and more recently an IB, I wish I had been able to access this book earlier. Mr Rose's traditional capital markets background combined with his entrepreneurial endeavours and charisma make this a book that's not only helpful, but you won't be able to put it down. A must read for every start up looking to raise capital.
